If you are up on latest must-haves of the internet, you have definetely heard of the social network boom of Twitter.
I must confess… when I first heard of Twitter, I jumped out and signed up for my free account. It wasn’t until after I’d posted my first two tweets that my fingertips came to a screeching halt on my typepad.
Twitter, for those less techno-interested, is a new tool that allows users to keep up with their friends and families much quicker than ever before. To add to the flurries of text messages, voice calls, and blog posts, now users can keep their followers abreast of their actions with brief, immediate updates. Limited to 140 characters per post, these mini-messages (known as tweets) are great for sharing bits of info, quickly, to a chosen range of recipients.
But, have we gone too far? Is this too much? Have we become a society that is so intertwined electronically, that we’ve forgotten how to truly connect with those around us? When does communication on the ’net, interupt our relationships with those we live with? Do tweets, IMs, texts, and blogs replace our ability to have general how-do-you-do’s with our neighbor? Why would I want to disturb a fabulous time with friends to send a mini-note to let other people know I’m having a blast? Have we become such a lonely nation that we feel compelled to send play-by-play updates to strangers, just so we feel, or can prove, we belong? Where is the line drawn?
Needless to say, I’m not twittering now. Three tweets and I’m out.

Liked this post. I have not signed up for twitter for the same reason I don’t text. Figured if I am spending all my time doing that, I am not spending enough time just living life. Thanks!
