Seeking God’s touch

March 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday at The Journey, we felt led to make a change to the general path of our services and embarked on a prayer journey.

As a group we walked through thanksgiving, worship, repentance, meditation, intercession, supplication, and worship, again.  It was an amazing venture.   Some who were frequent travelers on this trip, loved praying with others once again.  Others who were new to the sights along the prayer path, felt their hearts lift as God showed them a glimpse of what he has in store for them.

In my personal prayer journey, I am ready for more. I am sick of easy, breezy christianity, religious tradition and church culture expectations.  I have never wished to live a normal life.  I dread the common.  I dream of an extreme relationship with my creator.  I want the real deal: the raw presence of God in my life.  Transparency and authenticity of spirit is what I long for.  That I disappear and his grace shine in my place, is my prayer.

I began praying that God would stir me freshly; that he would drive me to seek out his presence; that he would wake me in the middle of the night with calls to prayer; that he would set my spirit ablaze with a passion for his word; that he would place a burning desire in my heart to do whatever it takes to follow his leading, to pursue his presence.

This morning, as I awoke early to pray, I felt his touch again.  It is a familiar touch, one that I’ve come to rely on.  But in response to our prayers, I also feel his stirring.  He has something great for those of us seeking him.  Something beyond our imaginations.  Something greater than what we’ve ever experienced and deeper than we’ve ever dreamed.  It is something that we long for and something that he has been waiting to pour out on us.

Have you felt the stir?  Do you feel the beat of your heart pick up the pace when you think of him?    Do you long for the touch of his hand?  What is God doing in your life?  Are you hungry to step beyond normalcy and into an extraordinary walk with God?
